NYU Stern School of Business Taps Echo360 for School-Wide Lecture Capture

100% of Core MBA Classes Are Captured While Faculty Adoption Tops 98%

DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - April 30, 2009) - Students at the #1 ranked part-time MBA program in the nation are reviewing their lectures online because of the selection of Echo360 technology by New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business. NYU Stern has deployed the scalable EchoSystem lecture capture platform in 30 classrooms and plans a school-wide rollout to reach all 42 classrooms by the start of the 2009-2010 academic year.

Every core MBA course at NYU Stern is recorded using the EchoSystem, and most full-time faculty participate in lecture capture by offering some form of online course review. As a result, 100% of undergraduate, MBA and executive MBA students have on-demand access to educational rich media or podcasts.

According to Anand Padmanabhan, CIO of NYU Stern, "The students benefit with a complete experience while being able to jump right to the point of the lecture. Faculty have a tool to supplement their in-class teaching."

But the convenience of recreating the classroom experience for students isn't the only reason the Stern School chose Echo360.

"It all boils down to efficiency of our operations. We now have a highly reliable, automated workflow which translates to less overhead for the Stern School," continued Padmanabhan. "With the EchoSystem, we have more output formats and fewer moving parts than with other recording solutions."

NYU Stern also takes advantage of the EchoSystem to promote its position as a leading institution in management and financial education. The recently published "Restoring Financial Stability: How to Repair a Failed System" by Viral Acharya and Matthew Richardson compiles essays detailing policy recommendations to repair the financial system as authored by 33 Stern academics. In early March, the school hosted distinguished financial leaders such as the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Board and former Federal Reserve Chair Paul Volcker in a panel discussion about the recommendations. Selected presentations from this event have been captured and will be made available as Echo360 podcasts for the general public through iTunes U. A sample presentation from the series is located at: http://fin-crisis.stern.nyu.edu/session1.

"NYU Stern is proving to be not only a top business school, but a leader in using technology to change how management education is delivered," said Mark Jones, President of Echo360. "Their school-wide deployment of Echo360 means that all students experience the benefits of this invaluable learning aid, without taxing faculty and staff with a manual solution."
