OCI Construction Group Cairo, Egypt / 24 May 2009, 11:15 AM OCI-Aqualia Joint Venture Submits Best Financial Bid on New Cairo Wastewater Public-Private-Partnership Project Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) confirmed today that its 50/50 joint venture with Spanish group Aqualia, Orasqualia (the "Joint Venture"), was announced as the best financial bidder for the New Cairo wastewater project. The submitted financial bid includes the value of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the plant and the Operation and Maintenance during the contract period. The overall contract value during the concession period is EGP 2.585 billion (USD 459 million). The project was tendered by the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities & Urban Developments ("the Client") in coordination with the Ministry of Finance as a 20-year Public-Private Partnership (PPP), during which the winning consortium will build and operate the plant. The wastewater treatment plant will have a capacity of 250,000 m3 per day. Currently, all submitted offers are under evaluation by the Client. An official announcement is expected shortly.
