Infinity Pharmaceuticals Named Winner of The Scientist's 'Best Places to Work in Industry' and Featured in Boston Business Journal's Best Places to Work 2009 Survey

Unique Corporate Culture Creates Inspiring and Innovative Work Environment; Infinity Takes Top Survey Honors for 5th Consecutive Year

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 27, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:INFI), an innovative cancer drug discovery and development company, today announced that it has been named one of the "Best Places to Work" by both The Scientist and the Boston Business Journal.

In The Scientist's 7th Annual Best Places to Work in Industry survey, Infinity was named the first place winner overall and the top-ranked firm in the small companies (less than 1,000 employees) category, topping a list of 238 life sciences companies that were assessed. The leading life sciences magazine asked survey respondents to assess their working environment according to 45 criteria in eight different categories, including job satisfaction, benefits, training, and integrity. In this year's survey top respondent priorities included: room for intellectual and career development, a family-friendly environment, and less hierarchy. Additionally, The Scientist found that employees listed the importance of job security, stability, and growth as desirable attributes of their workplace. The detailed survey results for the top 30 companies overall will be featured in the June issue of The Scientist, available in print and online June 1, 2009.

Infinity also has been selected as a best place to work on the annual regional list created by the Boston Business Journal, a cross-industry publication in the Boston area. The Boston Business Journal surveys local companies to determine which firms offer the greatest professional opportunities and work environments. In its findings, the Boston Business Journal noted Infinity's ability to create global strategic alliances benefiting its discovery and early clinical programs.

"At Infinity we strive to create and maintain an innovative and collaborative environment and we are honored that these publications continue to recognize our efforts and highlight the approximately 180 Citizen-Owners that make Infinity's achievements possible," said Jeanette Kohlbrenner, senior director of human resources at Infinity. "Discovering, developing, and delivering best-in-class cancer treatments to patients is our collaborative passion and mission -- and what makes Infinity a 'best' place to work."

Infinity's corporate culture is defined by the concept of "Citizen-Ownership," where each Citizen-Owner plays a vital role in the scientific, business and financial success of the company. The Citizen-Owners of Infinity are valuable, respected members of a corporate culture and community where achievements are the product of a collective effort.
