Massey Energy Puts People to Work in Flood Relief Effort

CHARLESTON, WV--(Marketwire - May 28, 2009) - As part of a major flood relief effort to
help rebuild roads and bridges damaged by flash flooding earlier this
month, the Associated Press reports Massey Energy Co. (NYSE : MEE )
"called back 23 laid off workers to help with flood relief in southern West
Virginia."
According to Vice President of Surface Operations Mike Snelling, Massey is
deploying workers to coordinate with state and county officials in an
effort to recover from the flash floods two weeks ago, which destroyed
hundreds of homes and heavily damaged infrastructure throughout southern
West Virginia.
