OCI Construction Group Cairo, Egypt / 21 June 2009, 2:30 PM OCI Awarded Contracts valued at USD 140 million in Work on Phase II of Line III of the New Cairo Metro Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) announced today that its Construction Group has been awarded contracts valued at USD 140 million for civil, electromechanical and railway work on Phase II of the New Cairo Metro Line III from the Egyptian Ministry of Transportation. Phase II of Line III of the New Cairo Metro includes separate packages covering civil, electromechanical and railway works. A Vinci/ Arab Contractors/Bouygues /OCI joint venture will execute all civil works related to the project including all tunnels and metro stations. The total contract value is approximately USD 390 million. OCI's share of the work, directly and indirectly, is valued at approximately USD 103 million. OCI will also be responsible for select electromechanical work on the project in consortium with Colas Rail of France, Arab Contractors, Alstom and the Thales Group. The total consortium contract value is approximately USD 140 million. Finally, OCI will be responsible for construction work related to the railway tracks in joint venture with Eurovia Travaux Ferroviaires (ETF) for a contract valued at approximately USD 24 million. In January 2007, OCI was awarded a share of work on Phase I of Line II of the New Cairo Metro. Phase II of Line III is comprised of 7 km of railway track which includes 4 km of underground tunneling connecting a total of five metro stations. Metro users will be able to use the current Abassiya station to reach Al Ahram in Heliopolis through Cairo Fair, Cairo Stadium and the Women's College in Heliopolis. The entire project is expected for completion during Q4 2013.
