Syntel Congratulates 2009 IndyCar Champions Dario Franchitti and Target Chip Ganassi Racing

TROY, Mich., Oct. 16, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dario Franchitti sure knows how to put together a dramatic finish.

After returning to the IndyCar Series, he capped off his first season back by winning the 2009 IndyCar Series Championship in dramatic fashion, edging Target Chip Ganassi Racing (TCGR) teammate Scott Dixon in one of the closest points races in recent memory.

In the end, however, it wasn't just about speed. Dario was able to overtake his competitors in the final laps of the final race of the season because of a sound strategy and flawless execution.

He also came out on top because he is backed by the great team at Target Chip Ganassi racing, and Syntel is proud to be a part of that team.

"2009 was a fantastic year," said Franchitti. "Five wins for both Scott [Dixon] and I, and finishing one-two in the championship for Team Target is a true team achievement, and it would not have been possible without the support of our partners."

As one of TCGR's technology partners, Syntel (Nasdaq:SYNT) brings our passion, talent, and innovation to work with us every day supporting the innovative Trackside Application. This ground-breaking application allows TCGR's engineers to monitor telemetry from the cars during practice, communicate in real-time between the pits, and make car setup changes on-the-fly based on changing track, weather, and race conditions.

According to Franchitti, the application gives him a real edge on race day.

"It takes a lot of brain power to be able to make these cars perform at their highest level," he said. "That is exactly what we get from Syntel, strong ideas and solid execution. I would like to personally thank Syntel for their contribution in helping our race cars go faster."
