During the nine months of 2009 AS Tallinna Vesi's total sales were 570.7 mln EEK, the Company has invested altogether 150 million EEK in 2009. The Company's net profit was 214,4 mln EEK during the nine months of 2009, having increased by 5.5 per cent year on year. AS Tallinna Vesi's Chairman of the Management Board Ian Plenderleith said that the third quarter of the year was quite pleasing. “I am pleased that we managed to successfully conclude negotiations with the City of Tallinn regarding the reduction of the cost of the network extensions program and in the spirit of good cooperation agreed to reduce water and sewerage tariffs for 2010 by 0.9 per cent,” said Plenderleith. In the third quarter of 2009 AS Tallinna Vesi's Supervisory Council approved the investment to build an additional treatment stage at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Together with the biofilter construction, approximately 200 m'EEK will be invested into Paljassaare Wastewater Treatment Plant in the next year and a half, as a result of which wastewater treatment quality will significantly improve. “This is a landmark moment in the development of AS Tallinna Vesi, and demonstrates our commitment to the wider environment, and the Baltic Sea and Tallinn's beaches in particular,” stressed Plenderleith.
