BayWa AG takes over MHH Solartechnik GmbH
BayWa positions itself more strongly in the market for renewable energies
Pending approval by the respective anti-trust authority, Munich-based BayWa
AG is to purchase all the shares in MHH Solartechnik GmbH from Sunways AG,
Konstanz (Constance), through its wholly-owned subsidiary BayWa Green
Energy GmbH as per 1 January 2010. MHH Solartechnik, a wholesaler and
retailer of photovoltaic systems with headquarters in Tuebingen, is one of
the leading companies in the solar market. The independent system supplier
operates throughout Europe and generated revenues of EUR 122 million in
2008. Including a performance-linked component, the purchase price of MHH
Solartechnik comes to between approximately EUR 15 and 20 million. The
takeover of well-established MHH Solartechnik GmbH enables BayWa to
significantly reinforce its market presence and raise its sales volume in
the field of renewable energies. BayWa AG views this as an important step
in accelerating the process of building up its renewable energies business.
Moreover, BayWa and Sunways intend to found a joint project company in
which BayWa will hold 51 percent and Sunways 49 percent.
