Strike threat update

Following our web news release of February 12th, new developments have emerged
on the industrial action front in Finland.

The dock strike which was to begin this Friday has been postponed two weeks by
the Finnish Minister for Labour. The possible walkout is now scheduled to begin
on March 4th, 2010. Negotiations between the union and employers are to resume
on Friday 19th.

The scheduled date for the threatened road transport strike, February 21st,
remains unchanged for the time being.

On February 15th, the Finnish Seamen's Union issued a strike threat covering
icebreakers, multi-purpose vessels and archipelago supply vessels. The strike
could begin on March 2nd.

Metsä Tissue is monitoring the situation closely and will keep key stakeholders
informed. Customers are requested to direct their enquiries to their own sales
contacts.
