The Greatest Ears in Town: The Arif Mardin Story, the stunning and memorable documentary of the final recording sessions of legendary producer Arif Mardin, considered one of the greatest producers of the 20th Century, will be featured as part of the prestigious Istanbul International Film Festival, 2010, April 3-18 in Istanbul, Turkey. A schedule of these screenings follows below.
Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, this annual film festival shows a great selection of Turkish and foreign language films. Screenings take place at various venues throughout Istanbul and there are a number of prizes awarded to the best films in different categories. The International Istanbul Film Festival was first held in 1982 and has grown to become one of the biggest film festivals in the country, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
Co-directed by Joe Mardin, in tribute to his father and Doug Biro (credits include Herbie Hancock: Possibilities), The Greatest Ears in Town will ultimately serve as a companion to the NuNoise Records CD, All My Friends Are Here, completed after Arif Mardin's 2006 death, set for release on June 15th.
The Greatest Ears in Town is intended for theatrical release and broadcast and will be released on DVD later this year.
