The Linley Group Processor Conference Presents Technologies, Products and Design Trends for the Next Decade

Top Technologists Debut New Processor Architectures, Designs and IP for Next-Gen Networking and Communications Applications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - September 10, 2010) -  Showcasing the next wave of processor and related technologies, The Linley Group today announced that the Linley Tech Processor Conference will take place September 27-28, 2010, at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. Providing a forum for new product announcements, lively panel discussions and networking opportunities, the annual two-day event will include presentations on the technologies that will impact networking and communications designs over the coming decade. The event will also include a keynote by Linley Gwennap, which will include insight from The Linley Group research reports and the recently acquired Microprocessor Report.

"The industry has seen some ups and downs over the past few years, but we are poised for significant changes over the next decade," said Linley Gwennap, president and principal analyst of The Linley Group. "The data rate of access networks is increasing as operators roll out fiber-based broadband for consumers, metro Ethernet for businesses and 4G cellular. These upgrades in access technology are forcing upgrades of edge and core networks. To support these faster technologies, processor suppliers are integrating more cores and more hardware acceleration, software vendors are tackling the multicore programming challenge and companies are improving their technology for network and platform security."

The single-track event will include 20 technical presentations and six panel discussions from a wide range of processor, software and IP suppliers. Presentations will touch on a variety of topics including high-performance multicore processors, scaling processing to 100Gbps and security processing. In addition, Craig Matsumoto, editor of Light Reading, will host a panel on chip features critical to next-generation designs.

AppliedMicro and MIPS Technologies are expected to make new product announcements at the Processor Conference and Tilera will disclose additional technical details regarding some of its processors.

"This conference is aimed at designers and engineering managers who must make informed technology and product decisions, as they spec out the next generation of networking and communications equipment," said Joseph Byrne, senior analyst at The Linley Group and program chairman for the conference. "The announcements being made by industry leaders will help attendees better understand the technology and give them direct access to those who can answer their specific questions."

Attendees will have an opportunity to visit vendor exhibits and network with industry leaders during the cocktail reception on September 27 at 5:00 p.m.

The Linley Group offers free attendance to qualified registrants who sign up by September 17. For more information on the conference program and to register, please visit http://linleygroup.com/Seminars/conference_fall.html.
