SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - October 25, 2010) - The historic Probert House at 940 Grove Street on Alamo Square, the next corner downhill from the world famous "Painted Ladies," will host a weekend of festivities to celebrate Halloween in San Francisco and raise funds for children's education.
Realtor Ted Bartlett, the owner of 940 Grove Street, and his talented contemporary artist friend, Rene Garcia, have transformed the already spooky corner home into a haunted house and will open its doors for fearless guests 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday of Halloween weekend. Built in 1895, the grand Victorian mansion has old roots in San Francisco, and from 1956 to 2009 the property was used by the last three owners as schools.
Proceeds from Saturday night's Halloween party and all voluntary donations from the daytime events will be donated to San Francisco organizations that support children's education. The party starts at 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 30 and includes excellent DJs and hosted bar -- tickets are priced at $50 per person. Tickets may be purchased in advance at http://sanfranciscohauntedmansion.eventbrite.com/. The haunted house is free although donations are strongly encouraged.
As a San Francisco native and father of two daughters, ages four and six, Bartlett has supported education since graduating from U.C. Berkeley. After watching the movie "Waiting for Superman," he decided to raise money for local education in a way that's fun for both kids and adults.
"Come celebrate Halloween with your family and friends in San Francisco's historic Alamo Square AND give back to our community," said Bartlett. "This property has so much history and an exciting future. In 2010, it is the perfect haunted house."
