Photo Release -- "The John Mattera Challenge" Raises $22K for American Red Cross


FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 22, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In an effort to galvanize fundraising for the American Red Cross of Broward County, newly appointed board member John A. Mattera issued 'The John Mattera Challenge' that raised over $22K for the organization.

John A. Mattera's challenge called on current board members to raise $10,000 for the upcoming Red Cross Runway Fashion Show. If they accomplished this, John Mattera promised to match up to $10,000 of their efforts with his own money. The board successfully raised $12,000, bringing the grand total of money raised to over $22,000.

The third annual American Red Cross Runway Fashion Show of South Florida will take place in Fort Lauderdale on February 25, 2011. Over 400 people attended last year's show, which raised over $50,000 for the services and programs offered locally by the American Red Cross.
