Opcon builds bioenergy-powered CHP plant for Falbygdens Energi - record order worth SEK 80 million

Opcon builds bioenergy-powered CHP plant for Falbygdens Energi - record
order worth SEK 80 million

Opcon Bioenergy, the subsidiary of Opcon, the energy and environmental
technology Group, has signed a final agreement with Falbygden Energi AB
concerning delivery of a new bioenergy-powered combined heating and
power plant (CHP) to Marjarp, Falköping. Falbygden Energi is a
subsidiary of Göteborg Energi, the leading energy company in west
Sweden. The agreement follows the announcement of an allocation decision
by Göteborg Energi two weeks ago in accordance with the public
procurement act.

The high-efficiency CHP plant will be powered by bioenergy and will be
completed in 2012 when it will be able to supply green electricity and
heating to the town of Falköping. The plant, which has a capacity of 12
MW of heating and 2.4 MW of electricity, will also be equipped with
first class flue gas treatment and condensation.

The deal is expected to be worth around SEK 80 million, making it the
largest order ever for Opcon Bioenergy.

“Winning this public procurement order from Göteborg Energi is a mark of
our strength. This is the largest ever order for Opcon Bionergy so far.
We consider small-scale bioenergy-powered CHP as a winning solution for
the future, both economically and for the environment. Combing
generation of electricity with production of district heating in this
way is now profitable even for a small plant like this. We can also
offer attractive solutions for plants even smaller than this one,” says
Claes Scheibe, CEO of Opcon Bioenergy.

“By investing in small scale bioenergy CHP we can keep security of
delivery high while giving our customers in Falköping “Bra Miljöval”
eco-labeled energy”, says Lars Ohlsson, CEO Falbygdens Energi.

Opcon Bioenergy is part of Opcon's expanding Renewable Energy business
area and its focus on Waste to Value with a special emphasis on Waste
Heat Recovery and bioenergy. Within the bioenergy sector, Opcon
Bioenergy offers a wide range of services, from design of complete
combined power and heating plants to handling systems and combustion
plants under the Saxlund brand.

Under its Renergi brand, Opcon supplies systems for treatment and
improved energy efficiency to biomass-powered district heating plants,
sawmills, pellets manufacturers and commercial greenhouses, as well as
treatment equipment for industrial plants and drying systems for
biomass. The Group also supplies Opcon Powerbox for production of green
electricity based on hot water or saturated steam.
