BERLIN, HONG KONG and LOS ANGELES, June 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Artificial Life, Inc., (OTCBB:ALIFE), a leading provider of award-winning mobile technology and applications, announced today that it has filed a lawsuit against major German electronic discounter and distributor MEDION AG (WKN 660500, MDN).
Artificial Life, Inc's wholly owned subsidiary Artificial Life Europe GmbH, based in Berlin, Germany, has filed a lawsuit and several legal and financial claims against MEDION AG in the court of Essen (Landgericht Essen), Germany, the location of MEDION AG's headquarters.
The Company claims unspecified substantial damages for breach of contract, intellectual property theft, copyright infringement, breach of confidentiality agreement, and unauthorized download of software from the Company's computer network.
The Company further requests the court to disallow Medion any usage of its concepts, designs, intellectual property, and products and demands the immediate removal of its software to disallow any future Internet and mobile devices transactions, sales, and applications based in whole or in part on Artificial Life's products or intellectual property.
Artificial Life also claims damages in excess of $US 6 million for non-payment for services provided and non-payment of license fees.
