Global Student Entrepreneur Awards Names Boston Regional Finalist

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Sep 23, 2011) - The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, the premier global competition for undergraduate students who own and operate businesses while attending college or university, today announced that Dinesh Wadhwani, founder of ThinkLite, LLC, was the winner of the Boston Regional Competition. Dinesh will now move on to the Global Finals to compete for $150,000 in cash and in-kind business services to fuel the next phase of his company's growth.

"I am thrilled to be representing Babson and the North East Region at the Global Finals," said Dinesh Wadhwani, founder of ThinkLite and 2011 GSEA Boston Regional Winner. "The GSEA is an incredible opportunity to meet fellow collegiate entrepreneurs and learn from seasoned veterans."

The Boston competition placed six regional semi-finalists, selected from nominations across the New England and Canadian region. Student businesses included green lighting solutions, healthy snack options, campus furnishing recycling, insurance software, eco-friendly surfboards and a roommate matching service. Hailing from Babson University, Dinesh founded ThinkLite as a Junior in college after realizing the incapability of major technology firms to provide custom green lighting solutions. At the Global Finals in November, Dinesh will meet with 30 semi-finalists, nominated from over 42 countries from around the world, to face off for the title of Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year.

"As an entrepreneur and former GSEA winner, it is incredibly inspirational to come back to local competitions where it all began," said Adam Blake, founder of Brightergy and GSEA Director. "The GSEA serves as a springboard for budding entrepreneurs to push the limits of their innovation. It's great to give back to these student competitors in the same way business mentors have helped me and my business grow."

A program of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards highlights the first phase of entrepreneurship life-cycle: the start-up. But these students are not part of the start-up inside circle with the benefits of incubators and entrepreneurs in residence. Rather they developed business plans in dorm rooms and test marketed to their fellow classmates.
