During this complimentary, hour-long session, participants will learn how to draft and implement effective social media policies and how to address employee use and abuse of social media sites. Those who use social networking as part of the hiring processes will hear how they can avoid discrimination and maintain compliance with federal laws. Dr. Harpe and Kiely will detail laws as enforced by both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, and explain recordkeeping requirements for federal contractors. Participants will leave understanding how to avoid both disparate treatment and potential impact.
Presenter, Lisa D. Grant Harpe, Ph.D., is an industrial psychologist and senior consultant for the Peoplefluent Research Institute, where she assists companies in the evaluation of their employment practices as they relate to discrimination. Her specialties include statistical and qualitative analysis of hiring, performance appraisal, compensation and promotion practices, as well as coordination with attorneys and employers involved in discrimination litigation or Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program (OFCCP) audits. She brings 10 years of expertise in industrial psychology and occupational analysis to the Institute.
She joins Hunton & Williams associate, Christy Kiely, whose practice focuses on employment litigation in federal and state courts and advice to business management and in-house counsel on a full range of employment issues. Kiely's practice also emphasizes affirmative action work and plan preparation, and practice before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs and other administrative agencies. She also conducts management and supervisor training on a wide range of legal and practical employment issues.
