Vernon Horton Joins the Team of 1st Capital Bank as Director of Client Relations and Corporate Affairs


MONTEREY, Calif., Nov. 8, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 1st Capital Bank announced that D. Vernon Horton has joined the Bank as Director of Client Relations and Corporate Affairs. This announcement was made by Fred Rowden, president and chief executive office of 1st Capital Bank. Mr. Horton will be responsible for business, civic and community development of the greater Salinas area, as well as managing existing client relationships.

Mr. Horton's banking career commenced in 1964 with Valley National Bank, Salinas. He served the bank in various capacities including lending, operations, and business development. In 1979 Mr. Horton was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. In December 1983, Mr. Horton left Valley National Bank to become Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank, Salinas. In 1998 First National Bank was acquired by Pacific Capital Bancorp, (Santa Barbara Bank and Trust); where Mr. Horton was appointed as a Director.

Mr. Horton is active in the local community and business affairs. He served as Chairman of the Hartnell College Foundation, the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Cherry's Jubliee. He also served as a Director of the Community Foundation for Monterey County and the California Rodeo Association.
