DALLAS, Dec. 5, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Heart Association and Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, today announced that Anna F. Dominiczak, M.D., has assumed the duties of Editor-in-Chief for Hypertension: Journal of the American Heart Association, the leading monthly journal for physicians and scientists involved in research and treatment of high blood pressure. Hypertension is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.
Dominiczak is Regius Professor of Medicine and Vice Principal and Head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, University of Glasgow. Her tenure as Editor-in-Chief commences with the January 2012 issue of Hypertension.

Dominiczak, who is the first American Heart Association journal editor to be located in Europe, has a strong history of leadership in hypertension research, with a special interest in genetic factors affecting hypertension risk. Her qualifications include years of editorial experience at several journals, including a term as Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Science. She has also played active roles in various American Heart Association Committees, including the Leadership Committee.
She has worked at the University of Glasgow since 1992 and is the first woman to hold any of the University's Regius Chairs – positions created by the British monarchy in the UK's ancient universities. She is responsible for a College with three schools, seven research institutes and an annual research income of $82m.
