DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - Dec 19, 2011) - Abhijit Madhugiri, Vice President of International Business Development for Echo360, the global leader in campus-wide blended learning and lecture capture solutions, will join the National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) Board of Directors on January 1st, 2012 under a two-year term to help guide their overall effort in developing service-learning programs for America's youth. The NYLC hosts 19 members on its board and draws from areas as diverse as government agencies, non-profit organizations and top tier educational institutions.
"Joining the National Youth Leadership Council's board is a great honor," said Madhugiri. "Empowering our young people to become active leaders through civic engagement not only creates meaningful opportunities for their lives, but also contributes to the long-term health of our society."
Founded in 1983, the NYLC pioneered the National Youth Leader Training program that educates qualified high school students on diversity and service-learning under an intensive summer experience. Program graduates then contribute to local communities with a real commitment to service by orchestrating efforts as simple as trash pick-up at the local park to the collection, study and reporting of water samples from a nearby riverbank. Additionally, many of NYLC's programs carry a specific interest in furthering ecological, educational and health issues that are supported by coordinating social events, preparing public service announcements and engaging peer-to-peer networks.
"We're thrilled that the National Youth Leadership Council has recognized Abhi as a leader in education," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "At Echo360, we encourage our executives to contribute to and be involved in organizations that further the important causes of education and community service."
