Exide Technologies Introduces EXTREME(TM) Power 1000 and Debuts New Case and Cover at 2012 Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week

MILTON, Ga., Jan. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Exide Technologies (Nasdaq:XIDE) (www.exide.com) a global leader in stored electrical energy solutions, announced today the launch of the newest heavy duty battery to join its portfolio - the Extreme Power 1000 - designed to meet the ever-increasing demands of the heavy-duty aftermarket. Exide will feature the Extreme Power 1000 along with its complete line of battery products for the heavy-duty aftermarket at the 2012 Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) Show in Las Vegas, NV, January 24-25.

With greater starting power and three times the vibration resistance of traditional flooded batteries, the Extreme Power 1000 delivers 1000 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and 200 RC (Reserve Capacity) minutes. It meets the challenge when it's time to start and time to haul, thanks to Exide's patented silver alloy cast positive grids, double insulated glass mat lined separator envelopes, Stabl-Lok® Plus epoxy anchor bonding, and reinforced case and cover with an easy to carry handle. And it is also backed by a 24-month free replacement nationwide warranty.

Exide will also debut a signature (patent pending) new case and cover for its Group 31 flooded products. The new design includes:

  • Spill-proof, manifold cover design under normal operating conditions
  • Suitcase handle and side grips for easy installation
  • Differentiated versions for the Aftermarket and Original Equipment/Original Equipment Supplier customers.

Exide will also feature its offering of NorthStar™ Ultra High Performance AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries, made with Pure Lead Technology for the heavy duty segment. These products represent an expanded line that is a result of the strategic partnership between Exide Technologies and NorthStar Battery Company. The arrangement enables Exide to provide sales, marketing, and distribution expertise for NorthStar's line of ultra-premium, high-quality, engine-starting AGM products. This partnership is part of Exide's overall strategy of becoming a leader in AGM technology.

Like other Exide Technologies products, the Exide EXTREME Power 1000 is made with recycled lead and plastic, and can be recycled at the end of their service lives. Exide is one of the few battery manufacturers in the world with facilities to manufacture and recycle its own products.

With over 75 branches throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, Exide owns and operates one of the most extensive manufacturer distribution networks in North America, ensuring that the right battery is available when a customer needs it. For more information on Exide and its products and services please visit www.exide.com.
