About Minister Alexander Stubb:

Alexander Stubb is the Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland since June 2011, and Member of the Finnish Parliament since March 2011. He was Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland from 2008 to 2011, and Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2008.

Prior to his political career, Mr. Stubb has been e.g. Adviser to the President of the European Commission, Visiting Professor of the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, Counsellor and Researcher at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union, Researcher at the Academy of Finland and Ministry for Foreign Affairs and participated in several EU Inter-Governmental Conferences as Member of the Finnish Government's Delegation.

He holds a PhD on international politics from the London School of Economics, an MA on political science from the College of Europe, Bruges, a diploma on French language and society from the Sorbonne University, Paris, a BA on political science from the Furman University, South Carolina, US, and Highschool diplomas from Finland and Mainland Highschool, Daytona Beach, Florida, US.

Mr Stubb loves sports (marathon, triathlon, golf, telemark), reading and tweeting. He speaks fluently Finnish, Swedish, English, French and German. He has published eleven books and about 30 academic articles on the European Union and is a regular columnist to several papers.
