PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - Apr 27, 2012) - Wednesday night's Powerball draw resulted in eight $1 million Powerball second prize tickets, six of which were sold in Arizona.
All six $1 million winning tickets were purchased at a QuikTrip located at 6702 W. Glendale Ave. in Glendale. The winning numbers were 4-25-29-34-43 PB 29.
One of the six winning tickets was claimed yesterday by a Glendale resident who wished to remain anonymous. Arizona Lottery executives are still eagerly awaiting the other tickets to be claimed.
These six wins bring Arizona's count of $1 million second prize Powerball wins to a total of 10, since the new $2 Powerball game launched on January 15, 2012. To date, Arizona winners have included two Tucson residents, a Phoenix resident and a couple from Fort Mohave.
"It is incredible for Arizona to have six $1 million second prize Powerball wins in one night, and even more astounding that all six tickets were purchased from the same retailer," said Karen Bach, assistant director of budget, products and communications for the Arizona Lottery. "Arizona is tied with New York for having the most $2 Powerball second prize winners since the game launched and we expect to be congratulating more Arizona millionaires this year than ever before."
The new $2 Powerball game offers many appealing features to players, including better overall odds and jackpots that grow bigger, faster. The starting jackpot doubled from $20 million to $40 million and the second prize for matching all five numbers, without the Powerball, increased from $200,000 to $1 million.
The next $2 Powerball draw is Saturday, April 28 for an estimated jackpot of $40 million.
Arizona Lottery players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, these materials may be made available in an alternate format. Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-NEXT STEP.
