WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Apr 30, 2012) - J. Caleb Boggs, III, a lawyer with more than two decades of experience in law, politics and public policy, has joined King & Spalding's government advocacy and public policy practice as a partner in Washington, D.C. He is expected to concentrate on the financial services industry. Boggs comes to King & Spalding from Blank Rome LLP, where he was a partner.
"J.C.'s recognized expertise in advocating at the executive and legislative branches for financial institutions and other clients makes him an important addition to the firm," said Thomas J. Spulak, chair of King & Spalding's government advocacy and public policy practice. "He is highly regarded on Capitol Hill and in the Washington lobbying and political communities, and his arrival will strengthen our continued expansion in regulatory and legislative work."
Boggs has broad experience representing corporate, trade association and non-profit clients before Congress and the executive branch on matters impacting financial services, tax, privacy and information security, e-commerce, homeland security, international trade and political law. He is a past president and a member of the board of governors of the Republican National Lawyers Association. Chambers USA recognized Boggs as a leading individual in government relations law in its 2011 edition.
In 2009, President George W. Bush appointed Boggs to a six-year term as representative to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, an agency of the World Bank and leading international arbitration institution devoted to investor-State dispute settlement. He is a former counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, including the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Boggs received a J.D. degree from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, an M.B.A. degree in international business from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and a B.A. degree from the University of Richmond.
"I have known many King & Spalding lawyers for years and have tremendous respect for them and the firm," said Boggs. "I am truly honored to join such an exceptional team and look forward to helping expand the firm's government relations practice and contributing to the overall growth of the firm."
