Former U.S. FCC Chairman Reed Hundt Joins ASSIA Board of Directors

Renowned for the Introduction of Spectrum Auctions and the Implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, Hundt Brings a Wealth of Knowledge and Experience to ASSIA

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 11, 2012) - ASSIA, Inc., the leading provider of high-performance software tools for dynamic spectrum management (DSM) of digital subscriber line (DSL) networks, today announced that former U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Reed Hundt has joined its board of directors.

As FCC chairman from 1993-97, Hundt oversaw the introduction of spectrum auctions and the implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that substantially reduced the rates for international telecommunications service. After leaving the FCC, Hundt joined the boards of several technology companies, including Intel Corp., where he took the seat of co-founder Gordon Moore upon Moore's retirement.

"I am delighted to join the board of directors of ASSIA and to have the privilege of working alongside an industry luminary such as Dr. John Cioffi," said Hundt. "ASSIA holds the key to improving broadband performance over the most widely installed and cost-effective technology available for Internet access -- DSL and Wi-Fi. As demand for high quality broadband access continues to grow, ASSIA is at the forefront with innovative solutions to support that growth."

"The addition of Reed Hundt to the ASSIA board of directors further strengthens the company's reputation as a leader in broadband access solutions, and I am thrilled that an executive of such global renown has agreed to join us," said Cioffi, ASSIA chairman and CEO. "He is a visionary leader, and his many talents will benefit our product development, partnership, regulatory, and commercial efforts. Reed has always been an advocate for easy access, high performance, healthy competition, and affordability in the worldwide information and communications technologies sector, which is perfectly aligned with ASSIA's mission."

Hundt also serves on the Board of Directors of the United Negro College Fund and Connecticut's Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority. He is Chairman of the Aspen Institute IDEA Project, a forum of technology and communications organizations addressing solutions to problems in the international information and communications technologies (ICT) sector. In addition, Hundt serves on the advisory boards of the Yale School of Management and the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity. Hundt was an advisor to Barack Obama on technology and communications issues during the 2008 Obama Presidential campaign and served on the Obama transition team. He is currently the CEO of the Coalition for Green Capital, a non-profit advocacy coalition of businesses, investors, and attorneys.
