Planet Resource Recovery, Inc.'s AquaLuxus(TM) Well Clean Proves Highly Effective in Ground Water Well Field Studies

Increased Efficiencies and Water Well Production of up to 400%

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - Jun 20, 2012) - Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PRRY) is pleased to report that the Company has received the preliminary findings of Field Studies on the effectiveness of AquaLuxus™ WC for groundwater wells. Planet's distributor, Timberline Assets, Ltd., launched an investigation in August 2011, including independent lab and field testing, to determine the effectiveness of using AquaLuxus WC for groundwater well rehabilitation, as an Environmentally-Friendly alternative to the commonly accepted utilization of acids to rehabilitate groundwater wells. The combination of AquaLuxus WC and Timberline's newly developed treatment protocols have proven highly effective in the rehabilitation of groundwater wells. The U.S. groundwater well market is immense and ever-expanding as it is extremely vital to the economy and health of the nation. According to The National Ground Water Association, "Of the total 341 billion gallons of freshwater the United States withdraws each day, groundwater is estimated to be 79.6 billion gallons, or 23 percent. There are 15.9 million water wells in the U.S., supplying groundwater for public supply, private supply, irrigation, livestock, manufacturing, mining, thermoelectric power and other uses." Additionally, "Approximately 800,000 boreholes are drilled in the U.S. annually. The construction of these vitally needed water supply systems involves the use of more than 18,000 drilling rigs by an estimated 8,100 groundwater contracting firms."

The primary cause of underperforming/low flow water well production and inefficiencies is incrustation caused by biofouling. Biofouling is the impairment or degradation of underwater surfaces or equipment as a result of the growth of living organisms. Organisms such as bacteria, protozoans, algae, and crustaceans can accumulate in large numbers on surfaces such as pipes, screens, and tanks, resulting in corrosion, clogging, contamination, or a decrease in the efficiency of moving parts. Clogging due to biofouling is a costly expense as most water wells typically must be rehabilitated every one to three years.

Today's accepted standard treatment protocol is to rehabilitate water wells with acids and mechanical procedures. Acid treatments are a temporary solution to incrustation, but are corrosive to equipment. More importantly, the chemical reaction between the acid treatment and metal surfaces creates an abundant food source for incrusting bacteria, allowing the biofouling cycle to commence again.

Since the launch of the investigation multiple benefits have been demonstrated when rehabilitating water wells with AquaLuxus WC and Timberline's treatment protocols:

  • Significant reduction of Iron Bacteria, Manganese Bacteria and Sulfate Reducing Bacteria which are the primary causes of biofouling. One AquaLuxus treated water well continued to demonstrate reduced bacteria eight months after the initial treatment.
  • Increased Water Production was evident in each well treated. Increases in water production ranged from 150% up to 400%.
  • Water Quality dramatically improved reflecting lower bacteria count and dramatically reduced turbidity.
  • Odor Reduction was extremely effective after treatment of three domestic wells.
  • Irrigation System efficiency: After AquaLuxus WC treatment, water production increased from 200 gpm (Gallons per minute) to 450 gpm. In addition, the reduction in bacteria/slime residue stopped the plugging of nozzles of the center pivot irrigation system. This increase in water production provides enough water to increase the per acre hay yield from 3 tons to 7 tons.

Mr. Ray Newmyer, veteran well driller and contractor, stated, "For 40 plus years I have been battling incrusting bacteria and the residue left by them. The slime and the iron staining returning after [acid] treatment is very frustrating in customer relations. The applications of AquaLuxus WC to the bio fouled wells have been very encouraging. The esthetic and chemical results have shown great promise for a solution to these problems. In every well treated with AquaLuxus WC there were positive results. The bacteria count decreased and the physical properties of the water improved. As the treated wells and future wells are monitored I expect more exciting results."
