SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 7, 2012) - The Global Poverty Project, supported by Sumner M. Redstone, and the Pratt Foundation, has just announced the Global Festival -- a free ticketed concert that will be held in New York's Central Park on September 29th. Eventbrite is the exclusive ticketing partner for the Festival, designed to ignite a movement around ending poverty in our generation. Headliners already announced are Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Band of Horses, K'Naan, with many more performers and celebrity ambassadors to come.
Innovative technology is a key component in The Global Poverty Project's strategy. The organization has created an online platform, Global Citizen, which supporters will use to find actions they can take to contribute to the eradication of poverty. For example, supporters can use the platform to access articles and videos that provide vital information about individual campaign issues, or they can use Global Citizen to find petitions to sign and support. Completion of these tasks will make supporters eligible for tickets to the benefit concert.
Eventbrite was chosen as the ticketing platform for Global Festival because of its cutting edge social media integration. Hugh Evans, CEO of The Global Poverty Project, explains, "Eventbrite offers an impressive ticketing platform that enables individuals to share their excitement about Global Festival and the mission of the Global Poverty Project both before and after they receive a ticket. Because supporters can activate their personal networks in this way, they can easily encourage and inspire others to get involved."
Additionally Eventbrite's entry-management tools, which have been utilized by Vans Warped Tour, Governors Ball Music Festival, and the Robin Hood Foundation at their 2011 Central Park concert featuring the Black Eyed Peas, will ensure that supporters will not be kept waiting in lines. Tickets awarded to Global Citizen participants will be distributed in late August. A small number of VIP tickets will be available for purchase, with all net proceeds going to the charity.
