Company employees raised more than $6,000 to buy bicycles and helmets through bake sales, T-shirt sales and a program leadership tricycle race.

"Much of our workforce comes from a military background, so we understand the sacrifices that our nation's heroes and their families make to ensure our freedom," said Tony Spehar, vice president and program manager of Northrop Grumman's ICBM program. "Although we will never be able to fully return the favor, we're hopeful that these employee-led efforts will make their lives and the lives of their families even more enjoyable on base."

Employees assembled the bikes early Saturday morning and the children of military families spent the rest of the morning test-driving their new wheels. Northrop Grumman is an active supporter of the needs of military families, including partnering often with the USO, and has been supporting the Air Force at the base for nearly 40 years.

"We're thankful for Northrop Grumman making this special day happen," said Chief Master Sgt. Mark A. Batzer, 388th Fighter Wing command chief. "We truly appreciate their generosity and support. Young Airmen don't always have a lot of extra money, and these bikes are a very helpful gift to our families, who sacrifice so much."
