National Pro Golf Tour's Taos Open Championship Being Held at Breathtaking Taos Country Club


TAOS, N.M., Aug. 20, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Some 144 professional golfers will vie Aug. 28-31 in the National Pro Golf Tour's Taos Open Championship being held at the picturesque Taos County Club http://www.taoscountryclub.com in Northern New Mexico.

Professional golfers will be competing for a purse of $189,000 on the 7,302 yard course, which has received a four-star ranking from Golf Digest Magazine.

"Golf fans will see some of the best professional golfers in the world compete on our magnificent Northern New Mexico course," said Tad Bourg, general manager of Taos Country Club. "Galleries will be able to view the action up close and enjoy the beautiful Taos Country Club course."

The National Pro Golf Tour (NPGT), http://nationalprotour.com, is in its fourth year and plays the best courses from coast to coast, helping to develop the PGA's next generation of great golfers. The Taos Open Championship is one of the nearly 20 events on the NPGT. In 2011, the tour paid some $1.8 million in prize money.

On Tuesday Aug. 28, tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. MDT. The field will be narrowed after the cut, with the winner hoisting the trophy on Friday.
