Tieto Corporation Stock Exchange Release 29 August 2012, 10.30 am EET
Tieto revised its strategy in March 2012 and has now made management appointments in order to ensure the execution of the strategy based on its new operating model. The roles will be effective as of 1 January 2013. The existing operating structure and management responsibilities will remain in place until the end of 2012. The composition of the new Leadership Team as of 1 January 2013 is the following:
- Kimmo Alkio, President and CEO
- Per Johanson, Financial Services Industry Group (currently heading Industry Solutions Business Line)
- Eva Gidlöf, Telecom, Media, Energy and Utilities Industry Group (currently heading Scandinavia Market Unit)
- Ari Järvelä, Manufacturing, Retail and Logistics Industry Group (currently heading Finland and Baltics Market Unit)
- The head of the Public, Healthcare and Welfare Industry Group will be announced later
- Ari Karppinen, Managed Services Service Line
- Henrik Sund, Consulting and System Integration Service Line
- Kolbjørn Haarr, New Markets (previously known as Central Europe and Russia)
- Antti Vasara, Product Engineering Services (joining from outside the company)
- Lasse Heinonen, CFO
- Katariina Kravi, Human Resources
According to its strategy, Tieto is focusing on providing full IT life-cycle services complemented with own product offering. Industry software products will be organized under Industry Groups. Product Engineering Services continues to pursue its global opportunities.
The new operating model comprises Industry Groups and Service Lines representing go-to-market activities and quality as well as IT offerings, respectively. The new structure drives for customer focus, simplified operations and integration of Tieto’s assets and capabilities. By strengthening Tieto’s industry-driven structure and repeatable IT service offering, the company is positioned to increase its profitability and drive long-term growth.

Antti Vasara joining Tieto
Antti Vasara Antti Vasara (Doctor of Technology) will join Tieto 1 November 2012 from Nokia. He brings with him extensive experience in business involving diverse industries and technologies, the global environment and strategic consulting capabilities. His latest position is Senior Vice President, Featurephones Product Development at Nokia. He has been working in various fields of high technology for close to 20 years and has been with Nokia since 2003. Antti has also served as the CEO of SmartTrust during 2001-2003 and as a consultant at McKinsey & Company as well as a researcher at the Helsinki University of Technology in Finland. Antti has served as a non-executive director on the boards of several listed companies and currently he is on the Board of Directors of Comptel.
