Kirkel / Hamburg - 12 October 2012. Following a resolution of the
Supervisory Board, Dr. Erhard F. Grossnigg today took the chair of the
Supervisory Board of Praktiker AG. He thereby replaces the long-serving
Chairman Dr. Kersten v. Schenck who resigned from his office yesterday.
Grossnigg has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Praktiker AG since
2 August 2012.

Moreover, the acting Chairman of the Management Board, Dr. Kay Hafner,
asked for an early termination of his contract effective at the end of 14
October 2012. The Supervisory Board appointed Armin Burger as successor of
Dr. Kay Hafner effective from 15 October 2012. As a former Member of the
Supervisory Board, Hafner had been appointed interim Chairman of the
Management Board in mid May. Like Grossnigg, Burger had been elected member
of the Supervisory Board of Praktiker AG on 2 August 2012 and is resigning
from his Supervisory Board mandate upon his appointment as Chairman of the
Management Board.

The vacancies resulting from these changes will be filled at short notice.
The Management Board of Praktiker AG continues to be composed of three
members. Besides the new Chairman of the Management Board, Markus Schürholz
is responsible for Finance and Thomas Heinitz is in charge of Procurement,
Logistics and Marketing.
