Smart Card Alliance Now Accepting Speaking Proposals for 2013 Payments Summit

Proposals Accepted Through November 13

PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J., Oct. 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Smart Card Alliance is accepting speaking proposals through November 13 for the 2013 Payments Summit, the industry's leading forum for smart, secure payment technology including EMV card payments, mobile payments, and transit payments.  The 2013 Payments Summit is being held February 5-7, 2013, with pre-conference workshops on February 4, at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Building on the success of last year's Summit, which attracted more than 500 delegates, the 2013 Payments Summit will have a larger meeting facility and an up-to-the minute conference agenda. The Summit has an "All Payments" theme, with continuing coverage of the major advances in the U.S. payments industry in the past year.  These include: the transition from magnetic stripe to EMV chip payments and the start of industry collaboration with initiatives like the EMV Migration Forum; NFC-enabled payments such as the Isis Mobile Wallet and others hitting the marketplace; and the expansion of the use of open standards-based contactless bank card and mobile payments in transit to multiple cities in the United States.

"The U.S. payments industry had major milestones in 2012, with all payment brands announcing their roadmaps to EMV chip-based payments, new mobile payments initiatives launching and major metropolitan transit agencies awarding contracts for open payments systems.  Payments issuers, banks, credit unions, transit agencies, and merchants are all looking for how to take advantage of these new, innovative, and secure payment technologies. The 2013 Payments Summit is the place for leaders to gather, collaborate, and create their own plans for a successful payments future," said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance.

The Smart Card Alliance is seeking topics for this year's conference program around these categories:

-- EMV Contact and Contactless Card Payments Implementations

-- Mobile and NFC-Enabled Payments Implementations

-- Transit Payment Systems Implementations and Technologies

-- Alternate Payment Systems Implementations and Technologies

-- Business Cases and Market Overviews
