Sportsdirect.com Standardizes on the DotNetNuke Web Content Management Platform and Leverages Cantarus' Development Services for More Than 100 Online Properties

The UK's Number One Sports Retailer Selects DotNetNuke's WCMS Platform for Its Reliability, Ease-of-Use, Scalability and Extensibility

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 23, 2012) - DotNetNuke Corp., the company behind the most widely adopted Web Content Management Platform for Microsoft .NET, today announced that Sportsdirect.com, the U.K.'s number one sports retailer by revenue and profit, evaluated and chose DotNetNuke as the standard web content management platform for over 100 of their online properties, including USC, Lillywhites, FieldandTrek, Dunlop, Slazenger, Lonsdale and Karrimor. Cantarus Ltd, a DotNetNuke Gold Certified Partner and a leading system integrator for DotNetNuke in the U.K., was selected to provide development, integration and training services for Sportsdirect.com.

By standardizing on DotNetNuke, Sportsdirect.com's developers are now able to rapidly modify specific web applications and design templates for individual brands, while maintaining consistency across multiple sites. The company also plans to utilize DotNetNuke 6.2's social capabilities to implement user ratings and reviews as its sites are migrated to the platform.

"Sportsdirect.com's online business is an important, rapidly growing retail channel for our company, increasing 83% over the past year," said Jay Lyford, IT manager of Sportsdirect.com. "The Olympic Games have created a tremendous spike in interest for sports and sporting goods, generating a surge in demand for our brands online. We needed to strengthen our online infrastructure to better handle the volume of traffic and transactions. DotNetNuke's Web Development Framework and CMS was chosen because it easily integrates with our existing systems, allows us to redeploy sites quickly, and enables us to scale to meet growing demand."

Sportsdirect.com's network of websites currently receives in excess of 436,000 peak daily visitors and 7.7 million page views per day. The existing platform did not scale well and ultimately struggled to cope with the demands placed upon the sites. The move to DotNetNuke was therefore a logical progression to a more robust platform that would enable the future expansion plans for Sportsdirect.com's online presence.

"At DotNetNuke we measure the caliber of the company we are by the company we keep and we are thrilled to add Sportsdirect.com to the growing number of global organizations standardizing on the DotNetNuke platform," said Bob Cortale, senior vice president, Sales and Customer Care at DotNetNuke. "The introduction of our DotNetNuke Professional and Enterprise products in the UK and European markets has been extremely well received and has led us to establish an office in Amsterdam and develop partnerships with leading integrators like Cantarus to help meet that demand."

Sportsdirect.com is working with DotNetNuke partner Cantarus to build and redeploy its websites using DotNetNuke's platform and tools. Cantarus has collaborated with Sportsdirect.com and DotNetNuke to architect a solution tailored to Sportsdirect.com's complex, technical and demanding business requirements. Additionally, Cantarus' DotNetNuke experts have helped Sportsdirect.com optimize DotNetNuke for the company's highly transactional eCommerce back-end and to achieve zero downtime during upgrades and system maintenance.

"A joint Cantarus and DotNetNuke team is working closely with Sportsdirect.com's own, highly-skilled development group to redeploy multiple branded websites using DotNetNuke in a short period of time," said Lee Adams, co-founder and partner at Cantarus. "Cantarus is equipped to deliver even the most demanding enterprise-class DotNetNuke projects. When it's fully deployed, we believe the Sportsdirect.com project will be among the largest DotNetNuke environments in the world by daily page views."
