HOUSTON, Oct. 23, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 713News, Houston's fastest growing source for community news, entertainment, and sports will host a launch party for its calendar featuring the 713News Beauties on November 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Beauties are a group of talented young women reporting the latest trends and events in the Houston area. Their various works are broadcast on cable as well as Houston's Voice.
The proceeds for the calendar will go toward the education of students of the 713News Multimedia class in the Ripley House Neighborhood Center. Students throughout the Houston area are also welcomed to attend. In addition to covering local activities, 713News trains children of all ages on the techniques used in the media industry. Skills these students learn include camera work, editing, writing, public speaking and more. The 713News Beauties featured in the calendar are also products of this program.
713News Founder Leo Lazaro hand-picked the multicultural group of Beauties to complement the media outlet's style of presenting Houston's positive energy. The Beauties follow the example of veteran Anchor/Producer Cyndi Garcia. "When we showcase positive events happening, people can be uplifted," says Garcia.
