MABC Congratulates New Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Inductee, Jim O'Rourke


VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 30, 2012) - The Mining Association of BC extends warm congratulations to MABC executive member, Jim O'Rourke, who will be inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame on January 10, 2013.

"Over the course of his career, Jim O'Rourke has been instrumental in the development and success of a number of high profile mines around the province resulting in the creation of hundreds of jobs in BC communities," said Karina Briño, President and CEO, Mining Association of BC. Jim O'Rourke was also the founder of BC Children's Hospital, Mining for Miracles Campaign (http://www.miningformiracles.org/) which, over the last 25 years, has raised more than $20 million in areas of critical needs at BC Children's Hospital. Jim is also involved with Fishing for Kids, a campaign raising funds for children's charities.

Jim O'Rourke continues to play a major role in mining industry as the President & CEO of Copper Mountain Mine near Princeton, BC, leading the mine into production in 2011.
