Project Red Ribbon runs from November 1st to the first Monday after New Year's. MADD Edmonton & Area Chapter is asking Edmonton residents to show their commitment to sober driving this holiday season by tying a red ribbon to their vehicles, key chains, purses, briefcases and backpacks. The ribbons remind people to plan ahead for a safe ride home if they're going to be drinking or doing drugs, and also serve as a tribute to those who have been killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. Every day, on average, 4 Canadians are killed and 174 more are injured due to impairment-related crashes.

The 2012 campaign marks the 25th anniversary for Project Red Ribbon in Canada. It is MADD Canada's longest running and most well-known public awareness campaign.

Red ribbons are available from the Chapter, from the MADD Canada web site, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada offices and local participating retailers.
