Small University Produces 'Gangnam Style' Video to Show Their 'Mulerider Style'

MAGNOLIA, Ark., Nov. 1, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Inspired by the YouTube sensation Gangnam Style, a small university in south Arkansas produced their take on the music video phenomenon to show how their university offers the complete college experience with "Mulerider Style."

Southern Arkansas University launched "Mulerider Style" on the university's YouTube channel on October 25. More than 300 students, faculty, staff and administration took part in the production. The video can be found by searching "Mulerider Style" on YouTube or by visiting http://www.saumag.edu/riderstyle

"Everyone on campus was so excited to be a part of this production, and I knew we had a special video in the works when the president of SAU, Dr. David Rankin, joined in and even did the 'Mulerider Style' dance for the camera," said SAU Director of Communications Aaron Street, who produced the video with Michael Kornegay, a digital cinema student at SAU.

Street said that he and Kornegay brainstormed ideas, filmed and edited the video in less than two weeks.

"We had so many great ideas for hilarious shots on campus to pay tribute to Gangnam Style in our own unique way," said Street. "But we could not have done it without the enthusiasm of so many students, athletic teams, student organizations, and the buy-in from administration."

Terrence Lee, an SAU theatre student, has gotten rave reviews for his performance as the lead in the video. Reality star and SAU business student Shaun Smith from season three of CMT's "Sweet Home Alabama" also learned the dance and recruited a handful of his rodeo friends to be a part of the production.
