Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System to Implement Capsule's Device Integration Solutions

Install Features Connectivity in ICU

ANDOVER, MASS., July 24, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Capsule Tech, Inc., the leading global provider of medical device connectivity solutions, today announced that Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System (SCVHHS), San Jose, CA, will implement Capsule's DataCaptor™ medical device integration (MDI) software. The Capsule solution will connect bedside patient monitors and ventilators in all of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center's intensive care units to its new electronic medical records (EMR) system. SCVHHS noted that Capsule has demonstrated their device connectivity capabilities, particularly the extensive library of device driver interfaces (DDIs), making the implementation an excellent fit with the health system's evolving information technology infrastructure.

Capsule's MDI solutions enable connectivity of virtually any medical device to virtually any EMR system allowing hospitals to choose their type and scope of project. At its core is Capsule's proprietary DataCaptor™ connectivity software manages the communication between medical devices and their destination clinical information system(s). Deployed through software on a PC, terminal server, and/or bedside hardware such as the Capsule Neuron™, patient data can be collected continuously in acute-care settings, or periodically in lower acuity, multi-patient environments. Implementations range from single department to multi-facilities, and in some cases, even system-wide deployment at hundreds of hospitals in a single network.

"Even more than our ability to connect with any clinical information system, is our extensive library of device driver interfaces," said Stuart Long, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer at Capsule Tech, Inc. "DDIs are absolutely essential to connectivity. Our library includes support for over 600 devices providing a virtually plug and play solution. Not only are we continually adding new devices to this library, but each driver is maintained and updated as device vendors update their medical devices."
