Cablevision Argentina Brings Popular Rovi Guide Experience to DTAs in All-Digital Subscriber Homes

Rovi Also Showcases Range of Digital Entertainment Solutions for Discovery, Delivery and Display Including Its Rovi DTA Guide at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2013

SANTA CLARA, Calif. and ATLANTA, Oct. 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2013) — Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI), driving digital entertainment innovation, today announced that Cablevision Argentina, a leading pay TV provider in Argentina and one of the largest in Latin America, has launched Rovi DTA Guide, an interactive program guide (IPG) built for DTAs (digital terminal adapters). The Rovi DTA Guide is available now and rolling out daily to new homes as DTAs are being deployed. Cablevision Argentina, which serves roughly 3.5 million subscribers, will add Rovi DTA Guide to its product offering to support its rapid subscriber acquisition throughout Argentina and bring a convenient, multi-feature TV programming guide interface to cable homes transitioning to all-digital.

At SCTE taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center, Rovi (booth #1758) is showcasing its range of guide, HEVC, and DivX® solutions for the discovery, delivery, display and monetization of digital entertainment. Rovi's portfolio of discovery solutions covers guides, including its Rovi DTA Guide, and data, search and recommendations technologies for the enjoyment of entertainment on current and next-generation set-top boxes, mobile phones, tablets and online. Rovi's video delivery and display solution is an end-to-end solution for professional content creation, protected delivery and high-quality content playback across multiple platforms and devices.

As service providers such as Cablevision Argentina convert their networks from analog to digital, they are integrating DTAs as a means to enable subscribers to continue to use their analog TV sets to view their cable video package. A DTA is a small device that is installed at the subscriber's location and converts digital TV signals into an analog format. The Rovi DTA Guide allows service providers to offer subscribers the popular guide experience that includes the ability to find out what's on TV, tune channels directly from the program grid, set parental controls, and even set language options for the guide and audio.

"We are excited to launch the Rovi DTA Guide to our customers and now — even those with analog television sets in their homes — can enjoy the benefits of a robust TV listings grid as well as descriptive information on programming," said Gonzalo Hita, commercial manager, Cablevision Argentina. "We see the Rovi DTA Guide as integral to the consumer entertainment experience and an optimal solution for the entire value chain as we continue to expand our all-digital network."

"We are committed to working alongside our service provider customers to help them deploy high-quality, value-add services that connect subscribers with the entertainment they love, and our project with Cablevision Argentina is such an example," said Bob Shallow, SVP, product sales and marketing at Rovi. "We believe this launch with Cablevision is an important milestone for us in the Latin America market and illustrates the essential role our guides play worldwide in bringing an engaging entertainment experience to consumers."

The features of the Rovi DTA Guide include TV listings by time, On Now and On Next banner to browse listings while watching TV, program information, parental controls, and language setting, among others. Viewers can also continue watching their current channel while navigating the guide. Rovi DTA Guide supports multiple languages, including Spanish and English, and Rovi plans to integrate with multiple DTA equipment providers.
