Wall Street Journal CIO Network Assembles Leading CIOs and CTOs to Address Most Pressing Global Technology and Innovation Challenges


NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal will again convene leading chief information and technology officers for the second annual meeting of its CIO Network. The invitation-only meeting will take place February 3-4 at The Grand Del Mar in San Diego with the mission to debate and decide on action plans for addressing the most pressing technology and innovation challenges facing corporations today.

During the opening session, Ray Kurzweil, director of engineering at Google Inc. and chairman, founder, and CEO of Kurzweil Technologies, Inc., will discuss the evolution of digital intelligence and its impact on individuals and corporations in an onstage interview with Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Gerard Baker.

Tuesday morning, Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware, will begin the sessions with an interview focused on the CIO's role in leading a culture of innovation. Paul Thomas, chief economist and manager of market sizing and forecast at Intel Corporation, will discuss the coming year's economic outlook and its potential effect on future technology trends.

  • Peter Sondergaard, SVP, Global Head of Research, Gartner;
  • Francisco D'Souza, CEO, Cognizant Technology Solutions;

In addition to Mr. Baker, a select group of Wall Street Journal editors will moderate the discussions throughout the two-day meeting, including: John Bussey, assistant managing editor and executive business editor; Jennifer Forsyth, U.S. editor; Michael Hickins, CIO Journal editor; and CIO Journal Deputy Editor Steve Rosenbush.

Central to the meeting are the special task force sessions focused on key topics of urgent importance to chief information and technology executives. In these sessions, the Network members will work together to develop recommendations for solutions that will be published exclusively in The Wall Street Journal CIO Network special report in the Journal and on WSJ.com following the meeting.
