HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Feb. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) is pleased to welcome Sally Ingalls Nelson to its Board of Directors (FHLB Dallas Board). Ms. Nelson's term on the FHLB Dallas Board began on January 1, 2014. She will serve a four-year term that will expire on December 31, 2017.

Ms. Nelson currently serves as chairman of the HMH Foundation at Huntsville Memorial Hospital in Huntsville, Texas, where she has made raising funds for a cardiac and vascular department to treat heart and vascular disease a priority. She previously served as chief executive officer of the hospital for six years prior to her retirement in 2013. Ms. Nelson has an extensive work history that includes an 18-year stint with Texas Children's Hospital, where she held positions as executive vice president, chief financial officer, and chief operations officer.

Ms. Nelson is a former board member and officer of the Greater Houston United Way and the Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. She won the Houston Women's CIO (Chief Information Officer) award in 2002; was a nominee for the Huntsville, Texas, Citizen of the Year award in 2010 and 2012; and was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare Magazine.

Ms. Nelson, who earned her B.S. in accounting from Louisiana State University, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and both the national and Southeast Texas chapters of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She conducts numerous speaking engagements on leadership, nonprofit financial management, crisis planning, and Sarbanes-Oxley, and has served on panels with Former U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Ms. Nelson and her husband, Ivo, reside in Houston and have three children.
