MIAMI, Feb. 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NISI has been awarded a contract for the first NISI 50 XPRESSO model (50ft/15m), from the company's new XPRESSO Class, commissioned by a successful American entrepreneur.

Codenamed "X50", this XPRESSO was introduced as the fifth NISI model in the company's collection at the prestigious opening day of the international yachting exhibition, the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show.

The highly anticipated X50 is the first multi-hull to focus on the desires of traditional monohull owners. Drawing on demands from traditional yacht owners and NISI's own megayachts, X50's arrival will bring unprecedented styling, strength, large social areas, and performance.

Concept and design comes from the engineering team at NISI Yachts, with naval architecture by Setzer Yacht Architects. Based on established interest from the international yachting community, X50's mission will deliver exceptional and efficient offshore performance with unprecedented exterior and interior spaciousness.

"Like all NISI Yachts, X50 will deliver a unique sense of occasion," says Christos Livadas, NISI Yachts Founder and CEO. "We've engineered the X50 to fill a need that infuses the best of mono- and multi-hull designs. One that embodies a balance between the design disciplines of performance and effective space planning. Her expansive layout rivals even our own, larger megayachts to offer abundant areas to mingle and relax in. She will be exceptionally comfortable in open seas, with exceptional speed while delivering superior fuel efficiencies. She is the perfect yacht for active, social owners looking for adventure—and the power to get there."

NISI and partners have quietly been conducting confidential R&D on a hydrofoil design to be featured on the company's top-of-the-line GTX model. "The entry-level models will deliver exceptional performance in the 20 to 30 knot range," says Don Marshall, NISI Yachts Product Development Engineer. "This newest feature, which we refer to as the 'SonicFoil', will take an already spectacular platform to a whole new level, with top speeds in excess of 35 knots—while reducing fuel consumption by nearly 50% compared to monohulls. She is geometrically constant and exponentially exhilarating!"

"The acquisition of the first NISI multi-hull model, almost immediately following her introduction at this week's prestigious Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show, further underscores yacht owners' desires to move forward toward a yacht that offers a fresh approach and dramatic departure from the generic, with a confidence that is a unique expression of themselves," adds Mr. Livadas. "We appreciate industry experts, yacht owners, and renowned yachting publications for their continued recognition and support."

The new model is being built at NISI's state-of-the-art shipyard, with her launch scheduled for Spring 2014. She achieves performance prowess and safety measures through numerous inventive technologies.
