Cayenne Medical, Inc. Files Patent Infringement Suit Against MedShape, Inc.


SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cayenne Medical, Inc., a Scottsdale based sports medicine device company specializing in the soft tissue reconstruction segment of the orthopaedic device industry, announced today that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona against MedShape, Inc., an Atlanta, Georgia based company.

In the suit, Cayenne Medical alleges that MedShape's ExoShape® Femoral Soft Tissue Fastener infringed and continues to infringe Cayenne Medical patents (United States Patent Nos. 7,651,528 and 8,435,294) that broadly cover Cayenne Medical's novel AperFix® System and methods for attaching soft material to bone, such as in an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction procedure.
