Kuppens, an Expert in Business-Enabling IT Solutions, Will Further Strengthen BCG's Internal and External Digital-Technology Capabilities
BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Apr 14, 2014) - The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) announced today that Robbert Kuppens, 49, has assumed the role of global Chief Information Officer. Kuppens, who joined the firm's Amsterdam office as a partner in January, succeeds Tom Dionisio, who retired at the end of March after more than 15 years as CIO.
Kuppens previously worked as Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Russia (EMEAR) CIO for Cisco, the worldwide leader in "networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate." From 2007 to 2014, in addition to holding that position, he was a member of Cisco's global IT executive team and served as cross-operations lead, driving collaboration between the EMEAR leadership team and the local and global IT functions. EMEAR represents more than a quarter of Cisco's $48.6 billion global business.
Kuppens has over 25 years of experience in business and IT management consulting and operations management. Prior to joining Cisco, he was a partner for e-strategy at KPMG's Nolan, Norton & Co. Before KPMG, he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and NCR Corporation.
At BCG, he will be responsible for driving innovation and operational excellence throughout the firm's global IT function, leveraging BCG's own world-class IT and organizational-change consulting experience.
"I'm excited to take on this new challenge at BCG, one of the world's top management consultancies. The firm has a lot of momentum right now and is committed to taking its IT and digital transformation capabilities, both external and internal, to the next level and beyond," said Kuppens.
Kuppens holds a master's degree in computer science and a degree in econometrics from the University of Utrecht, where he also lectures on network virtual organization and enterprise information architectures. In addition, he speaks at 15 to 20 major international conferences per year and is a lecturer for Nyenrode's CIO MBA program.
