UBIC Inc. Hosts Seminar on Conducting Legal Business in Japan and the Rest of Asia

What Lawyers and Others Need to Know About Working With Asia's Global Corporations on Legal and Related Risk-Management Matters

NEW YORK, April 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UBIC, Inc. (Nasdaq:UBIC) (TSE:2158), a leading provider of international litigation support and big-data analysis services, today announced it will host another of its Signature Seminar Series in New York City, Friday, April 25.

A luncheon event, the upcoming seminar's theme is how legal professionals can build and conduct business in Japan and the rest of Asia, a region where many large, global companies find themselves involved, actually or potentially, in government investigations as well as civil lawsuits emanating from western nations such as the U.S. and the member states of the European Union.

A pathway for U.S. attorneys

"East Asia is one of the fastest growing markets for U.S. legal services, particularly those related to legal discovery and information risk management during litigation or investigation," said UBIC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Masahiro Morimoto, who recently published a book on conducting legal business with Asian Corporations.

The seminar takes place at midday over lunch at the Yale Club, which is located near many of the City's major law firms. Ari Kaplan, Esq., a noted speaker and author on legal services, is scheduled to serve as host and lead moderator.

Following luncheon at 12:00 pm and a brief address by Mr. Morimoto on conducting legal business in Japan and East Asia, the seminar offers two expert panel discussions.

The first panel, "Information Governance as a Global Priority," is to be led by Jason R. Baron, Esq. of the law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath and formerly Director of Litigation for the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration and trial lawyer and senior counsel at the Department of Justice. Mr. Baron will be joined in the discussion by three legal experts.

The second panel, "Law, Technology and Asia" is to be led by David Horrigan, Esq., analyst and counsel at 451 Research where he covers content compliance, legal e-discovery, international data privacy and information governance. As an industry analyst, attorney and award-winning journalist, Mr. Horrigan covers legal, regulatory, and market issues affecting companies in these areas. Mr. Horrigan's panel features four attorneys.

At the conclusion of the program, Mr. Morimoto will sign copies of his latest book, eDiscovery–Japan, for attendees.
