Morinda Sponsors Second Annual International A.G.E Awareness Day

Locations Around the World to Host Seminars, Meetings, and Prize Giveaways to Raise Awareness for AGEs

PROVO, UTAH, June 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Morinda, Inc. announced world-wide plans today to celebrate this week's second annual International AGE Awareness Day.

AGE Awareness Day, inaugurated in 2013 by the AGE Foundation, is recognized internationally as taking place on June 21. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness for the important health initiative regarding AGEs and their effects upon the human body.

AGEs, or advanced glycation end-products are harmful compounds which form in the body and on foods as a result of excess sugars and proteins binding together. Thousands of research and clinical studies have shown AGEs to be primary influencers of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's and various other maladies.

"AGE Awareness Day was launched on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, as a way to connect the conversation to longevity in life," said Shon Whitney, Morinda's Vice President of Marketing. "We know that people are looking for ways to live healthy, vibrant lives and the AGE conversation is an important topic that is being overlooked in today's health and wellness conversations."
Morinda plans to hold awareness day events this year in England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Russia, Taiwan and the United States. Events include health forums, health and medical speaking seminars, celebrity guest appearances and prize giveaways all aimed at increasing AGE Awareness.

Last year's AGE Awareness Day was celebrated by hundreds of thousands of individuals worldwide and exposed to millions of others around the globe. More than 350 media outlets featured stories on AGEs, including Parade Magazine, the Wall Street Journal and WebMD.

"AGEs received a lot of attention over the last year, but there is still a lot of work to do," said Jeff Johnson, Vice President of the AGE Foundation. "Considering the widely acknowledged health implications for AGEs, it is amazing how many people are completely unaware of the issue. We're trying to help change that."
