SolarCity Expands New York Operations to Orange County

New Windsor Operations Center to Meet Increased Solar Demand; Expansion Brings New Jobs to Hudson River Valley & Catskills

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y., Nov. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SolarCity® (Nasdaq:SCTY), the nation's #1 solar power provider, is expanding its New York operations with a new 22,000-square-foot Orange County Operations Center in New Windsor. The new operations center— SolarCity's fourth in New York—brings new jobs to the area and allows the company to keep pace with growing solar demand in both the Hudson River Valley and the Catskills regions—particularly Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster and Sullivan Counties.

SolarCity's expansion brings a significant number of new jobs for the region—there are approximately 30 staff working out of the New Windsor Operations Center today and the company plans to fill an additional 50 positions for the facility. SolarCity now employs more than 350 staff in New York and more than 7,500 nationwide.

New York is rapidly becoming a national leader in clean energy. Key policies—including NY SUN and Net Metering—have provided customers clean energy choices and created local jobs. SolarCity broke ground on what is expected to be the largest solar panel manufacturing facility in the Western Hemisphere in Buffalo, NY in September.

SolarCity makes it possible for many New York homeowners to install solar panels with no upfront cost and pay less for solar electricity than they pay for utility power.
