BCG Leadership Expert Roselinde Torres Receives 'Women Leader' Award

Torres, a Senior Partner at The Boston Consulting Group in New York, Is One of a Dozen Women Recognized for Outstanding Achievement by Consulting Magazine and One of Four in the Category of Leadership

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 7, 2014) - Roselinde Torres, a senior partner at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and a noted authority on leadership, has received a Women Leaders in Consulting Award from Consulting magazine, the industry's premier trade publication. Torres, who is based in New York, was one of a dozen women recognized for outstanding achievement this year by the magazine and one of four in the category of leadership.

Torres and her fellow awardees were fêted at a gala dinner last night at the St. Regis hotel in Manhattan. She had the distinction of being honored not only for demonstrating exceptional leadership within her firm and the industry, but also for her accomplishments as BCG's top expert on the subject of leadership.

Consulting's editor and publisher, Joe Kornik, said that the magazine received more than 400 nominations for 12 awards this year, the magazine's eighth honoring women leaders in the industry: "Each and every year, the quality of the nominations, and the accomplishments of the winners, get more impressive. And this year was no exception," he said.

Torres has advised over 200 CEOs as well as numerous senior executives and boards on issues of executive leadership, talent management, organization design, culture change, and large-scale transformation. She has consulted across a wide range of industries spanning the private, public, and social sectors, including consumer products, financial services, health care, industrial goods, private equity, retail, and technology.

She also has written numerous publications on twenty-first-century leadership, new-CEO transition, CEO succession, and executive team effectiveness. Her views have appeared in HBR Online, The Economist, the Financial Times, and Chief Executive, among other outlets. In addition, she has been a featured speaker at such venues as TED (her talk last year, "What It Takes to Be a Great Leader," garnered more than 1.8 million views), the Bloomberg Business Forum, and the International Economic Forum of the Americas.

Within BCG, Torres has greatly expanded the firm's work and expertise on leadership as a senior member of the People & Organization practice area and has served on BCG's Americas Leadership Team in a leadership development role for internal firm leaders and managers. She has also mentored dozens of partners and consultants.

In 2009, she was named a BCG Fellow, allowing her to spend a significant portion of her time on pioneering thought leadership. Her latest commentary appears in an article titled "Leapfrog Succession: A New Trend in Appointing CEOs?," released this week on bcgperspectives.com.

"I feel honored and humbled," said Torres. "Honored for the recognition from my peers. More than anyone, they know the reality of being a leader in the consulting profession. Humbled because I do not consider myself 'finished.' I have more to learn, more to dream, and more to do with people I haven't even met yet."

Outside of her consulting work, Torres is a trustee of the Wildlife Conservation Society and serves as an advisor to the Harvard Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership and its Latino Leadership Initiative.

Before joining BCG in 2006, she was a senior partner at Mercer Delta Consulting, where she held a number of U.S. and global leadership roles. She also led internal consulting teams at Johnson & Johnson and Connecticut Mutual Life.

Torres holds an M.S. degree in human resource development from American University and the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science. She graduated with honors from Middlebury College with an A.B. double major in English and Spanish.

She is the latest in a series of BCG women to be honored by Consulting for their leadership and impact. Since launching the Women Leaders in Consulting Awards in 2007, the magazine has recognized a total of six BCGers: Jeanie Duck, Sandy Moose, and Antonella Mei-Pochtler for lifetime achievement; Sharon Marcil and Kim Wagner for client service; and now Torres for leadership. In addition, four BCG women have been named to Consulting's annual list of the top 25 most influential consultants.
