BISMARCK, ND and ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Nov 10, 2014) - The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and RouteMatch Software today announced that NDDOT will be using RouteMatch's transit asset management solution. RouteMatch will provide services to design and implement a Transit Asset Management (TAM) system with associated management consulting, data collection, system integration, and professional services.
The adoption of RouteMatch's transit asset management technology will help NDDOT fulfill The Federal Transit Administration's (FTA's) MAP-21 guidelines. It additionally provides NDDOT and transit agency staff with greater visibility into vehicles and facilities and the ability to monitor and measure performance for safety and resource planning.
"Like many Departments of Transportation that serve rural and small urban transportation systems, we would like to do a better job of fully understanding all our grantees' assets. This way, we can better assist them preventative maintenance, saving costs and provide more effective funding allocations," said Becky Hanson, Transit Program Manager, North Dakota Department of Transportation.
In addition to FTA's MAP 21 and State level reporting, RouteMatch will be implementing a comprehensive Maintenance Module for work orders and assignments, schedule management, inventory management and pricing as part of the Transit Asset Management solution. A State of Good Repair module will provide tools for overseeing capital asset inventory and inspections as well as investment prioritization management. Resources such as manuals, parts catalogues, videos and images will be available for quick and easy access for accelerated and accurate maintenance in the Content Management Module. All modules are unified and draw information from one database, making it seamless for NDDOT to pull, correlate, analyze and report on data statewide.
NDDOT currently uses RouteMatch's intelligent transportation platform for statewide scheduling, routing, dispatching, and coordination for rural demand response systems. Urban systems within the state such as the City of Fargo Moorhead and Grand Forks utilize RouteMatch to manage demand response and fixed route operations as well as traveler information technology to communicate real-time arrival times to riders through smartphones, signs and the Web.
"The agencies have been happy with the RouteMatch platform which is user-friendly and flexible, and working with the executive and support team there," added Becky. "Adding transit asset management is a natural extension. Additionally, it's cost effective as many of the agencies are already familiar with the system and we can use our existing Cloud set-up which minimizes impact on IT resources. Reception from the agencies has been very positive."
The solution will start with three county pilot programs with transit agencies West River Transit in Bismarck, Souris Basin Transit in Minot and Elder Care in Dickinson. Assessment and planning are underway for this specific pilot. Some of the key components to this first phase include Transit Asset Management Plan Development, Fleet and Asset Inventory and Condition Assessment, Capital Planning and Budgeting Tools, Real-time data collection, vehicle performance tracking, TAM reporting, and alerting. Incorporating a transit asset management system should facilitate more accurate data capture, multi-agency reporting, and forecasting and planning for future capital investments.
"We are excited to be working with the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the progressive team there," said Richard Greenaway, Vice President, RouteMatch Software. "We apply a very common sense, consultative approach combined with innovative technology so departments of transportation and transit systems have a comprehensive history of all assets and can establish performance measures for State of Good Repair."
