Northrop Grumman Supports Australia's Cyber Future; Sponsors University of New South Wales, Canberra/Australian Defence Force Academy

CANBERRA, Australia – Nov. 12, 2014 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) in partnership with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Canberra/Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) is providing a AU$35,000 grant to the Australian Centre for Cyber Security (ACCS) to promote cyber advancements for Australia's future.

Located at the UNSW Canberra ADFA campus, ACCS was opened in early 2014. The centre was launched by the Australian government as the premier research and teaching centre of its kind. ACCS will bring together the largest contingent of cyber security experts in the country.

ACCS aims to provide cutting-edge, international thought leadership in cyber security through research, education and industry engagement, at a time when cyber security is moving to the top of global political, scholarly and commercial agendas. Research at the centre is being split over five areas including computer and network security, risk management, international politics and ethics, law, and big data analytics for security. It offers undergraduate and post-doctoral programs.

"The support of industry partners such as Northrop Grumman is incredibly valuable as we develop this centre," said professor Jill Slay, director of the ACCS. "We're proud to be bringing together Australia's largest corps of cyber security researchers with an unclassified 'cyber range' allowing for wargaming so students can practice on cyber-attacks in a controlled environment."

"As we continue to expand and strengthen our presence in Australia, we are excited to be sponsoring UNSW/ADFA by offering them our ongoing support. It provides an opportunity for us to demonstrate our breadth of military communications and information systems to our customers, academia and industry partners," said Ian Irving, chief executive for Northrop Grumman Australia. "Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in information systems, computer network operations and cybersecurity and we are strongly positioned at every level to respond to Australia's needs."
